Founded in 1975 by Fredrick
(Fritz) Gierach and Leroy (Butch) Walterlin, representing only
three insurance companies at the time; Ohio Casualty Insurance
Company, West Bend Mutual Insurance Company, and Germantown
Mutual Insurance Company. Today, Colonial Insurance Agency
represents dozens of companies, of which West Bend Mutual and
Germantown Mutual are still proudly represented. During 1988,
a new strip mall opened on Mequon Road (the main in-road to
Germantown) offering retail and office space. This became the
new home of Colonial Insurance Agency, with which it is still
located today. Shortly after the move, Mr. Walterlin retired,
allowing Fritz Gierach to bring in some new partners. The
search didn't take long, and in 1990, Donald MacLeod and Mark
Besting joined with Fritz to make Colonial Insurance Agency a
true marketing force in insurance.
As Colonial moved into the
next decade, Fritz decided to spend more time enjoying life
and retired from Colonial in 1998. As Don and Mark became the
sole partners of Colonial Insurance, the Agency continues to
grow, protecting the assets and families of thousands of
clients. From auto and home, to life and health, Colonial is
able to handle almost every insurance need of the personal or
commercial insurance client.
Since it's founding, Colonial
has been a proud member of the Professional Insurance Agents
of Wisconsin (PIAW). This organization is dedicated to
maintaining the professionalism and integrity of the
independent agent and the independent agency system.
Colonial Insurance Agency is
also a proud supporter of the community; both financially and
volunteering of their time.
